Vestas recently unveiled to the Indian market, the V155-3.3 MW turbine – optimised for low and ultra-low wind conditions.

Based on an internationally tested 4 MW platform, the V155-3.3 MW increases the turbine swept area by 67 percent compared to the V120-2.2 MW and greatly enhances partial load output in low-wind conditions with a high rotor-to-rating ratio.

The V155-3.3 MW increases annual energy production (AEP) by more than 3 percent for a 300 MW wind park with 46 fewer turbines, providing an increased degree of business case certainty.

The new turbine also features a full-scale converter delivering excellent grid compliance and faster active and reactive power during dynamic frequency and voltage events.

In addition, the V155-3.3 MW has an optimized blade design that is tailored and ideally suited to Indian Wind conditions. It also includes market-specific towers up to a hub height of 140 meters to satisfy local transport requirements.

With the launch of the V155-3.3 MW turbine, which will largely be developed and produced in India, Vestas will increase its already prominent manufacturing footprint in India by setting up a new converter plant in Chennai and expanding its current blade plant in Ahmedabad.

Vestas has installed close to 4 GW of wind turbines in India over the last two decades and with the introduction of the V155-3.3 MW turbine, Vestas continues to underline its commitment to better support its customers and drive India’s renewable energy transition.
