The Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, the provincial government of South Chungcheong, and the city government of Dangjin held a completion ceremony for a new hydrogen supply and shipping center for hydrogen vehicles.
The hydrogen produced by Hyundai Steel Co.’s hydrogen production plant will be processed and loaded onto hydrogen tube trailers at the shipment center.
With the completion of the shipment center, Seoul and Gyeonggi Province will receive 2,000 tons of hydrogen each year, enough to power 13,000 hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles.
In comparison to the current supply price for hydrogen charging stations, the hydrogen supply price would be decreased by more than 20%.
Hyundai Steel, the country’s second-largest steelmaker, plans to produce and supply 60,000 tons of by-product hydrogen from by-product gases produced during the steelmaking process by 2030.
