The Xiong’an New Area building project in Hebei Province, China, has received a fleet of 100 hydrogen-powered trucks.
FTXT Energy Technology, a subsidiary of Great Wall Motor (GWM), and partners Dayun, Dongfeng, and Foton handed over the fleet to assist establish a green hydrogen transportation network countrywide.
Each of the trucks is outfitted with 111kW hydrogen fuel cell engines, hydrogen stacks, and hydrogen storage, as announced at the Great Wall Technology Centre.
Once operational, the vehicles will be refueled at 10 pre-existing service stations equipped with hydrogen stations.
Not only are the vehicles environmentally friendly, but they are also believed to be roughly 38% less expensive than diesel alternatives due to the use of locally sourced components.
GWM will launch its first hydrogen-powered SUV this year, and its hydrogen-powered cars will be deployed at the Winter Olympics in China next year.
