Alstom and Hynamics, the EDF Group’s hydrogen unit, have formed cooperation to improve hydrogen refueling in passenger trains.
The measure, according to the company, should hasten the creation of hydrogen compositions and minimize the time required to refill them.
Alstom and Hynamics teams are analyzing a collection of models, calculations, and simulations. This effort, which impressively mobilizes the “EDF Lab’s” competencies and resources, will thereafter be tested on the electrolyser test platform at the “EDF Lab Les Renardières,” one of Électricité de France’s three R&D facilities in Écuelles, beginning in 2022. (Seine -et-Marne).
To duplicate full-size filling circuits and test the equipment’s behavior under best observation conditions, a hydrogen production station, a 450 bar compressor, and multiple storage racks will be erected.
“Through this collaboration, we will be able to improve the hydrogen distribution infrastructure as well as the rolling stock accessible to operators.” The two parties underline that “this is a project that provides numerous prospects for the decarbonization of transportation and the development of sustainable mobility.”
