In Italy, the country’s first urban hydrogen distributor is about to launch.

The facility is currently undergoing testing, according to hydrogen-news.it. It is now awaiting final approvals and authorizations, but will be operating by March 2022. Where? The station is located in Mestre, in the municipality of Venice, and features two hydrogen supply terminals for vehicles, trucks, and buses. It is stated that all precautions have been taken.

What is the future of hydrogen?

Luigi Brugnaro, the mayor of Venice, expressed satisfaction: “Thanks to Eni, another significant step forward has been taken.” This demonstrates how well-deserved Venice’s candidacy as the world capital of sustainability is, he says. The effort, which is the first of its kind in Italy, is the result of an agreement between the Metropolitan City, Eni, and Toyota to experiment with hydrogen-powered mobility. Additionally, the deal between the City of Venice and Eni was signed in May 2021. Which has now been converted into tangible environmental and territorial conservation projects.

Everything is environmentally friendly: this includes electric vehicles.

Along with the hydrogen refueling system, the new Eni station, which reopened a few weeks ago following a complete rebuild, now features an electric recharging station with two stations. At this location, a car can be recharged simultaneously with direct current at 50 kW and alternating current at 22 kW.

While the consumer’s car is filling up, he or she can shop. Refueling with electrons and hydrogen as a business opportunity A Telepass station is located at the distributor in Via Orlanda, where customers can request, collect, or replace their Telepass device. Additionally, it is possible to pay postal bills and pick up packages if needed. There is also a refreshment stop with an emporium of high-quality food goods and, for those who choose, self-service or served filling of traditional fuels, as well as a vehicle wash area. Business arises from business.
