Hyundai Rotem deploys Daigas Group’s onsite hydrogen technology globally

Daigas Gas and Power Solution (DGPS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Osaka Gas, has expanded its commercial relationship with Hyundai Rotem Company (HRC), an affiliate of Hyundai Motor Group, to allow HRC to market onsite hydrogen generators outside of South Korea.

Adopting its acquired experience on catalyst, Daigas Group (formerly Osaka Gas Group) introduced the first model of “HYSERVE,” an on-site hydrogen generator, in 2003. In 2013, DGPS introduced the HYSERVE-300, a new model with an hourly hydrogen production capability of 300 Nm3. As the maker of HYSERVE-300, DGPS has mostly sold these machines to hydrogen fuelling stations.

Then, in 2019, DGPS awarded HRC permission to produce and distribute “Hy-Green,” a hydrogen generator leveraging HYSERVE-300 technology, allowing HRC to satisfy the growing demand for hydrogen filling stations in South Korea.

After confirming the successful launch of Hy-Green by HRC, DGPS has chosen to deploy its HYSERVE technology globally by allowing HRC to sell Hy-Green outside of South Korea. This, according to DGPS, will expedite the development of the distributed hydrogen supply infrastructure required for the decarbonization of the transportation sector.

In order to expand the hydrogen supply chain, HRC will sell Hy-Green for the on-site hydrogen fueling station for various hydrogen mobilities (small vehicles, buses, trucks, construction equipment, railway, ships, etc.), fuel cell power plant, and biogas production facilities (to manufacture hydrogen).

HRC has already created the capacity for mass production of Hy-Green and is prepared to receive queries from throughout the globe, including those from Daigas Group.

The Daigas Group, which includes DGPS, will develop its foreign energy business from upstream to downstream by leveraging its experiences outside of Japan and its current overseas business platforms.
