Over the next ten years, approximately 100,000 megawatts of renewable energy will be used to produce green hydrogen, according to Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Egypt’s minister of electricity and renewable energy.
According to Minister Shaker, in the coming years Egypt will be able to rely on renewable energy just like it does on oil. The planned green hydrogen projects will create 220,000 temporary jobs in addition to 44,000 direct and indirect ones.
Additionally, these initiatives will aid in reducing annual carbon dioxide emissions by 37 million tons. According to Shaker, localization of the local industry in this sector is necessary for the expansion of renewable energy projects in Egypt.
