The renewable hydrogen manufacturer, Phynix, has chosen Duro Felguera Green Tech for the turnkey contract (EPC) for the construction of a production plant, with 10 megawatts (MW) of electrolytic power, in Alcázar de San Juan (Ciudad Real).
The contract also covers the commissioning of this hydrogen production facility, comprehensive engineering, civil works, and the delivery and installation of main equipment, such as the American Cummins electrolyzer and Howden compressors.
Building work on Duro Felguera
The Vitale project, which is scheduled to start operating in the first quarter of 2024, will generate 1,450 tons of renewable hydrogen annually.
One of the first commercially viable renewable hydrogen production facilities in Europe and Spain, Vitale will have a variety of uses.

Additionally, it will be distributed through hydrogen refueling stations and sold to local industry, as well as the logistics and heavy transport sectors, as well as urban and interurban transportation in the Community of Madrid (HRS). Also, a portion of the production will be set aside for gas network injection.
From 2025, Phynix intends to create 11,700 tons of hydrogen annually using this plant and the 70 Megawatt electrolytic Barataria project.
The Vitale project is Duro Felguera Green Tech’s second renewable hydrogen EPC venture.
