NENS Power and e-power are embarking on a groundbreaking journey to harness green power generation for temporary energy supply.

The focal point of their innovation is a cutting-edge generator equipped with a Volvo Penta Stage V D8 industrial engine, featuring CMB.TECH’s hydrogen dual fuel technology. This technological marvel is set to play a pivotal role in reducing CO₂ emissions, offering a versatile solution for port operations and off-grid power generation.

The generator, aptly named Generator E Power 053, boasts a maximum output of 250kVA, with the flexibility to operate in either full diesel mode or the innovative dual fuel mode. In the latter mode, hydrogen steps in to replace up to 80% of the diesel consumption, significantly reducing carbon emissions. The degree of diesel displacement will be meticulously evaluated, depending on the power output, as the generator undergoes field trials in diverse locations in the coming months. These trials aim to accumulate valuable experience and validation data for this cutting-edge product, with the ultimate goal of bringing it to market in collaboration with e-power®, CMB.TECH, and Volvo Penta.

At the heart of this revolutionary technology is hydrogen dual fuel, a pragmatic and achievable interim step on the path to achieving 100% zero-emission energy generation. Jens Fets, Sustainable Solutions Manager at e-power® International, emphasizes the significance of hydrogen as a fuel of the future, citing its reliability, lack of pollution, and zero emissions. He underscores hydrogen’s pivotal role in shaping a cleaner and brighter future for energy generation.

The partnership between NENS Power, e-power®, and CMB.TECH aims to gather crucial experience and validate the potential of dual fuel technology in the off-grid power generation sector. This endeavor represents a critical milestone in the decarbonization of the industry and serves as a cornerstone for the partnership with Volvo Penta to advance dual fuel technology and hydrogen as a viable and sustainable fuel source.

In summary, the partnership between NENS Power, e-power®, and CMB.TECH, supported by Volvo Penta, is poised to usher in a new era of sustainable power generation. The hydrogen dual fuel generator represents a tangible step toward achieving cleaner and more environmentally friendly energy solutions, marking a significant milestone in the global effort to combat climate change and reduce carbon emissions.
