The governor of Rio Grande do Norte (RN), Fátima Bezerra, traveled to Puertollano, Spain, on Wednesday to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nordex Group, a leading manufacturer of wind turbines and clean energy equipment, for the development of an industrial chain for low-carbon hydrogen and wind and solar energy in RN.
Electrolyzers are essential equipment for the production of green hydrogen. In Puertollano, the RN delegation visited the Nordex electrolyzer plant and development laboratory.
The Energy Development Coordinator of the State Secretariat for Economic Development (Sedec), Hugo Fonseca, explained that Nordex develops its own technology for producing green hydrogen and this will reduce costs in the installation of the industrial chain and in the production chain.
The MoU between RN and Nordex is a significant step towards the development of a green hydrogen industry in the state. The MoU has the potential to create jobs, boost the economy, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
RN is well-positioned to overcome the challenges to developing a green hydrogen industry. The state has abundant renewable energy resources and a growing number of businesses that are interested in using green hydrogen.
