Emperium shipyard tests Russia’s first electric hydrogen vessel prototype

The Emperium shipyard tested Russia’s first electric hydrogen vessel prototype on Niva in the Leningrad region. Its foundation is an odd piece of technology: an electrochemical generator (ECG) creates energy from hydrogen; the end product is precisely the electricity needed to power the batteries.

Both the Sitronics group and the Center for Hydrogen Technologies of AFK Sistema deemed the test successful. The Sitronics group developed the vessel, and the Center was in charge of developing the generator. This is covered by TASS.

Hero Future Energies to enter green hydrogen market

Hero Future Energies intends to enter the green hydrogen manufacturing market. The company currently has a portfolio of about 1.8 GW of wind and solar energy facilities. The company has been working on this idea for the past two years, according to SrivatsanIyer, the global chief executive officer of Hero Future Energies, and hopes to start project development in the upcoming months. Iyer said the first project might be in a situation where hydrogen is already being used.

Iyer emphasized that some parts of India have the capacity for commercial hydrogen generation and consumption. Prior to beginning implementation, the company’s first priority is to boost technology confidence.

Malaysia introduces Hydrogen Economy & Technology Roadmap

The Hydrogen Economy & Technology Roadmap (HETR) was introduced by the Malaysian government with a focus on creating strong legislative frameworks, providing subsidies, and cultivating a talent pool.

While hydrogen’s usage as a fuel is still in its infancy in Malaysia, the cost of production remains high, while challenges linked to its transport and storage are still of concern, in addition, clear legal and regulatory framework remains out of play.

Metso launches hydrogen burners for pelletizing

According to Metso, as part of its NextGen PelletizingTM plant product line, the FerroflameTM LowNOx burners are now available in a hydrogen option.

According to Metso, it is the first burner of its kind to run on hydrogen and use the LowNOx combustion principle. These burners are 100% hydrogen fueled and are a part of Metso’s Planet Positive portfolio, which focuses on environmentally friendly technology. They were specifically created for the traveling grate pelletizing plants.

Ferroflame LowNOx burners driven by hydrogen follow the same combustion process as its natural gas counterparts, which will be introduced in 2022. The business claims that the Ferroflame LowNOx burners for natural gas may be converted to run on hydrogen and that they can easily replace conventional burners in a traveling grate pelletizing facility.

Temsa introduces HD Fuel Cell hydrogen fuel cell-electric bus

Temsa introduced the HD Fuel Cell hydrogen fuel cell-electric bus at Busworld, which was created in partnership with CaetanoBus. With the exception of roof-mounted hydrogen tanks, it looks very identical to the HD12 offered in the UK and has a range of up to 1,000 kilometres.

The coach is referred to by Temsa CEO Tolga Kaan Dogancioglu as “our masterpiece.” The HD Fuel Cell has a maximum battery capacity of 160kW/h as part of its driveline and can accommodate up to 53 passengers within a 19,000kg GVW envelope. The maximum fuel cell output is 180kW.

PLN Nusantara Power produces green hydrogen

Unexpectedly, PT PLN (Persero) now has a Green Hydrogen Plant (GHP) through PLN Nusantara Power (PLN NP).

Main Director of PLN NP Rully Firmansyah explained that his company has so far produced gray hydrogen from a functional hydrogen plant. However, PLN NP has the first GHP in Indonesia thanks to the usage of solar PV and a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC).

PLN NP is able to manufacture 51 tons of 100% green hydrogen annually using a number of electrolyzers with an annual power usage of 2,795 Megawatt Hours (MWh).
