The H2 Energy News team recently attended the III. Mostar Hydrogen Forum in Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized by HEET doo Rama/Prozor and ALFA THERM doo Mostar in collaboration with the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina, H2-Hydrogen Cell Zagreb, and INTERA Technology Park.

Held on April 8, 2024, at the INTERA Technology Park in Mostar, this event brought together industry leaders and experts to delve into the role of hydrogen in various sectors.

Under the theme “HYDROGEN (H2) from production to application in industry and transport,” the forum provided a comprehensive overview of the hydrogen landscape. Attendees explored critical aspects of hydrogen production, distribution, and utilization, focusing on its applications in the industry and transportation sectors.

In-Depth Discussions

The forum facilitated in-depth discussions on several key topics shaping the future of hydrogen. Panel I, led by Ivica Jakić, founder and president of H2-Hydrogen Cell Croatia and a pioneer of H2 in Croatia, included presentations on various aspects of hydrogen technology.
One presentation focused on a potential project for the production and utilization of green hydrogen at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Sarajevo, presented by Prof. Ph.D. Haris Lulić.
Additionally, Prof. Ph.D. Sanjin Gutić from the Faculty of Science at the University of Sarajevo emphasized innovations and trends in developing new electrolyzers, highlighting his team’s work in building an electrolyzer at their university.
Mario Barišić from the Končar Institute discussed the opportunities and challenges of hydrogen in power engineering and transport. Furthermore, Zoran Tabak from EPHZHB shared insights into hydrogen technologies in the electrical energy sector.

Innovative Projects

One of the highlights of the forum was the presentation of projects such as the solar power plant and hydrogen production in Rama. These initiatives exemplify the integration of renewable energy sources and hydrogen technologies to drive sustainable development and energy independence.

Another noteworthy project that garnered attention was the “Green and Energy Independent City of Vis.” Recognized as a beacon of sustainable urban development, this project showcased how cities can leverage renewable energy solutions and adopt environmentally friendly practices to create greener and more resilient communities.

Collaborative Efforts

The III. Mostar Hydrogen Forum underscored the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in advancing hydrogen technologies and addressing global sustainability challenges. By bringing together industry experts, policymakers, and innovators, the forum served as a platform for fostering dialogue, exchanging ideas, and catalyzing collective action towards a more sustainable and hydrogen-powered future.

The H2 Energy News team remains committed to covering such impactful events and initiatives that are shaping the future of energy and sustainability around the world.
