Stadtwerke Stuttgart, a German municipal utility, has secured an additional EUR 5 million in funding for its hydrogen initiative in Stuttgart.
This funding supports the HydroPulse Stuttgart subproject, which entails building two refuelling stations, acquiring three fuel cell vehicles, and installing a high-temperature fuel cell at the new energy campus of Stadtwerke Stuttgart.
The Stuttgart Region Association is providing the EUR 5 million, covering nearly half of the project’s anticipated EUR 11 million total cost. This financial support is crucial for advancing the region’s hydrogen infrastructure and technology.
Beyond HydroPulse, Stuttgart’s hydrogen initiative includes other projects like the Green Hydrogen Hub Stuttgart (GH2S) and the H2 GeNeSiS pipeline. The GH2S project plans to construct a facility capable of producing up to 1,000 tonnes of hydrogen utilizing renewable electricity. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2025, with three electrolysers set to be operational by the end of 2026.
