The Municipality of Rucphen has launched a tender titled “Voluntary Transparency Energy Storage System for Heilinde,” published on February 5, 2025.
The tender aims to implement a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and an Energy Management System (EMS) for the new Heilinde primary school, located in the region of West-Noord-Brabant, Netherlands. This initiative is crucial due to the local power congestion issues, preventing large-scale electricity contracts and necessitating innovative energy storage solutions. The systems are pivotal for ensuring the school’s energy needs are met post-construction.
The main objective of the tender is to identify a suitable contractor to supply and integrate BESS and EMS into the school’s existing electrical setup. These systems will ensure efficient energy distribution, stabilization of the power supply, and incorporate renewable energy sources like solar power. They serve the dual purpose of facilitating energy storage and optimizing management through intelligent coordination between different energy sources and users.
Technical requirements specify that BESS should directly connect with the main switchboard and distribution setup, with the EMS enabling communication across various components to balance supply and demand efficiently. Such integration will not only stabilize energy provision but also help reduce potential spikes in energy use, a process known as peak shaving.
