Everfuel and Crossbridge Energy Fredericia have achieved the first production and delivery of hydrogen to the Crossbridge Energy refinery, marking a significant milestone in the HySynergy I project.
Located in Fredericia, Denmark, the 20 MW facility is the first in Everfuel’s strategy to develop green hydrogen production capacities. This achievement represents a critical step toward stable operations and production ramp-up, underscoring the companies’ commitment to advancing the hydrogen economy.
The HySynergy I project, co-owned by Everfuel (51%) and Hy24 (49%), is among the largest green hydrogen production initiatives in Europe. Supported by €6.5 million from the Danish Energy Agency and €3.8 million from the European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility, the project aims to produce green hydrogen for industrial use, particularly in sectors like aviation, shipping, and heavy transport that are difficult to electrify.
The successful delivery of hydrogen to Crossbridge Energy, the project’s offtaker, highlights the collaboration between Everfuel, Crossbridge Energy, and district heating operator TVIS, which will utilize surplus heat from the facility. This milestone is a testament to the dedication of the teams involved and the potential of green hydrogen to transform the energy landscape.
Everfuel and Crossbridge Energy plan to use the coming months to steadily ramp up production and optimize operations. The companies intend to host an official inauguration event later this year, inviting VIPs, stakeholders, partners, and media to showcase the facility’s capabilities and its role in the green transition.
The HySynergy I project is a cornerstone of Everfuel’s strategy to establish large-scale green hydrogen production. By leveraging renewable energy sources, the facility aims to reduce carbon emissions in hard-to-abate sectors, aligning with Denmark’s and the EU’s climate goals.
