AES Andes has submitted an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to Chilean authorities for its proposed industrial-scale green hydrogen project, named Inna.
This project is currently in early-stage development and aims to explore various solutions, including the production of green hydrogen for both export and domestic consumption, aligning with Chile’s National Green Hydrogen Strategy.
To support the Inna project, AES Andes has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Samsung C&T, a prominent Korean company experienced in energy and construction. The partnership will evaluate joint development opportunities focused on producing green hydrogen for local use or export to international markets. The proposed project could involve not only the production of green hydrogen and ammonia but also the deployment of solar, wind, and battery storage systems to meet Chile’s electricity needs.
Luis Sarrás, AES Vice President of International Green Hydrogen, highlighted the company’s commitment to community engagement, particularly with the Changos communities in the region. He stated that AES Andes has previously conducted extensive stakeholder engagement and will continue this commitment as the project progresses.
