Air Liquide and ENEOS Corporation have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development of low-carbon hydrogen in Japan.

Air Liquide, a leader in gases, technologies, and services, brings over 60 years of hydrogen expertise, while ENEOS, Japan’s leading energy company, boasts a robust energy infrastructure and market presence.

The partnership’s primary focus is to traverse the entire value chain of low-carbon hydrogen. Upstream, the collaboration will delve into the development of low-carbon hydrogen production, leveraging Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) and electrolysis technologies. Additionally, the partners will explore the potential establishment of an international liquid hydrogen supply chain to cater to the Japanese market.

On the downstream side, joint initiatives are on the horizon for the development of hydrogen mobility in Japan, including the creation of a hydrogen refueling station infrastructure. The collaboration also extends to innovations along the hydrogen supply chain, underlining the comprehensive nature of this strategic partnership.
