A long-term agreement for the delivery of extra hydrogen and carbon monoxide has been inked between Kumho Mitsui Chemicals, a global leader in the chemical industry, and Air Liquide, which runs four production facilities at the Yeosu National Industrial Complex.
Air Liquide will be able to assist Kumho Mitsui Chemicals in expanding its MDI (methyl diphenyl diisocyanate) production facilities, which will have an annual capacity of 200,000 tons, thanks to this deal. Polyurethane for insulation and high-tech materials are both produced by MDI.
A 50% increase in MDI output is possible with the development of Kumho Mitsui Chemicals’ MDI (methyl diphenyl diisocyanate) production plant, which will start operating in 2024. Air Liquide has been joined to Kumho Mitsui Chemicals in order to supply hydrogen and carbon monoxide for this project.
Air Liquide will use four hydrogen and carbon monoxide production facilities, as well as a CO2 recycling facility set up at its fourth Yeosu Plant this year, to increase production capacity and lower CO2 emissions in order to supply Kumho Mitsui Chemicals.
