Poole Harbour has granted AqualisBraemar LOC Group a new research and development project for the construction of a green hydrogen production barge.

The Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition recognized the unique idea (CMDC).

The CMDC gets money from the Department of Transport and is provided in collaboration with Innovate UK. Longitude Engineering, a subsidiary of AqualisBraemar (ABL Group), will join a collaboration with Poole Harbour Commissioners and Green Hydrogen Solutions to develop this green hydrogen production barge idea.

The project will comprise concept research and development, as well as a feasibility assessment for a moored barge capable of producing hydrogen, storing hydrogen, and delivering hydrogen to boats at the Poole Harbour port. The area will subsequently be used as a case study to demonstrate the concept’s commercial feasibility. It will also be utilized to demonstrate the viability of this strategy in terms of the environment.

The green hydrogen generation barge is designed to aid in the decarbonization of the marine sector.
