Pure Hydrogen Corporation has registered Australia’s first hydrogen fuel cell Prime Mover in Brisbane, Queensland.

This vehicle will soon be handed over to PepsiCo, marking the beginning of a pioneering trial phase aimed at showcasing hydrogen fuel cell technology’s potential in commercial transportation.

The registration follows a collaboration initiated in September 2022 between Pure Hydrogen and global food and beverage conglomerate PepsiCo. This partnership intends to trial the Hydrogen Fuel Cell 6×4 Prime Mover, with Pure Hydrogen handling refuelling, maintenance, and repairs.

Following registration, the six-month trial will begin post-handover to PepsiCo. This evaluation period will enable PepsiCo to determine the commercial viability of incorporating hydrogen-powered vehicles into their fleet. Positive outcomes from the trial could lead to fleet expansion, highlighting the broader applicability of hydrogen fuel cell technology.

This development aligns seamlessly with Queensland’s Hydrogen Industry Strategy 2019-2024, which sets ambitious goals for renewable hydrogen production leadership by 2030.
