Heerema Fabrication Group has been awarded a fabrication deal of the Greater Changhua pre-piling template for Heerema Marine Contractors. The pre-piling template is a tool that enables Heerema Marine Contractors to install the piles accurately. It consists of three pile sleeves connected by framing including hydraulically adjustable pile guides and mudmats. EC-OG has received £1.6 million from an investment consortium led by Par Equity for the exploitation of its Halo battery storage system designed for subsea applications. The investment will create up to 40 jobs in Aberdeen over the next 12 months. Halo is a modular and scalable battery storage system that operates in the subsea environment. By removing the need for undersea power cables, it provides a reliable, uninterrupted power supply, located at the point of use. TenneT has contracted eight cable suppliers to develop a new standard for a submarine cable system, to be used for offshore wind connections. The participating suppliers are: Hellenic Cables, LS Cable & System, Nexans Norway, Ningbo Orient Wires & Cables, NKT HV Cables, Prysmian Powerlink, Sumitomo Electric Industries, Zhongtian Technology Submarine Cable. The new cable system is required for the planned 2GW offshore grid connections in the Netherlands and in Germany, which set a new standard for connecting offshore wind farms. Rotech Subsea has completed a cable burial scope at the Walney offshore wind farm for Ørsted. Rotech Subsea was contracted by the global offshore wind leader to provide its TRS1LD Jet Trenching tool, equipped with HP jets, to carry out the cable burial at Walney in the Irish Sea. The subsea spread of equipment was mobilised on the OSV Relume and deployed using the ship’s crane. Two separate cables totaling approximately 3.5km in length were trenched to a specification of 2.0m TOC in the soft sand areas and to 1.0m TOC in the stiff clay areas. “This was a great…

Geoquip has completed geotechnical survey campaign for Oriel Windfarm. This work complements last year’s geophysical survey campaign completed by Irish company Alpha Marine. Vattenfall and TenneT have signed an agreement for the offshore grid connection for wind farm Hollandse Kust Zuid 3&4. This follows last year’s agreement between the parties for Hollandse Kust Zuid 1 & 2. “This is an important milestone, and I’m pleased that the contracts could be signed so quickly – just nine months after winning the bid. Spirit AeroSystems has received approval from Kansas public utility regulators for the complete conversion to renewable wind-generated electricity for its 12.8 million square-foot Wichita aerospace manufacturing site. Utility regulators at the Kansas Corporation Commission approved a 10-year agreement filed jointly by the company and Evergy, that provides an updated electric rate structure. In return, Spirit has agreed to purchase Kansas wind-generated electricity, continue investing in capital improvements and make efforts to maintain stable or expanded operations in Wichita. Northern Offshore Services (N-O-S) has acquired two Crew Transfer Vessels (CTV) from Rix Shipping . The two vessels, part of the M-Class series, RIX Lynx and RIX Leopard will be renamed M/V Mover and M/V Maker when they join the N-O-S fleet of 39 vessels. The M-Class series are 27 M high speed offshore support vessels, equipped with waterjets. Eleven energy and industrial companies have signed a formal agreement to develop a decarbonized industrial cluster in the Humber, UK. The consortium’s plan, to transform the Humber region into the world’s first net zero carbon industrial cluster by 2040, has also secured an initial award from the UK’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund. The companies involved include some of the largest businesses in the Humber region: Associated British Ports, Centrica Storage, Drax Group, Equinor, National Grid Ventures, Phillips 66, px Group, SSE Thermal, Saltend Cogeneration Company, VPI-Immingham and Uniper.
