Azerbaijan is poised to take the lead in the area and establish itself as a trusted supplier to the EU thanks to a combination of assets required for the growth of the green hydrogen industry, according to a report citing a press release from the Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
The rapid expansion of the renewable energy sector (RES) and the hydrogen sector of the Azerbaijani economy is made possible by support for green energy projects under the REPowerEU initiative and the growing interest of investors.
Global Solar Atlas estimates that Azerbaijan’s solar generating potential is comparable to that of southern Italy and is over 1.5 times bigger than that of Germany, and that of the Absheron Peninsula’s wind potential is comparable to that of the North Sea shelf areas.
