Solaris Bus & Coach, a dependable customer, has placed an order with Ballard Power Systems for 25 hydrogen fuel cell engines.
The Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen buses, which will be used by Polish public transportation company MPK Pozna, will be equipped with 70kW fuel cells, which are scheduled to be delivered in the second half of 2023.
The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management’s Green Public Transport initiative will help pay for some of the buses. By 2028, 30% of MPK Pozna’s fleet must be emission-free. By adding these 25 hydrogen fuel cell buses, its zero-emission fleet will rise from 18% to 25%.
The Urbino 12 hydrogen emits only water vapor, and soon Poznan residents will be able to enjoy the benefits and comfort of traveling by hydrogen Solaris. “Pozna is investing in clean technologies, in innovation, and in the future. This huge order puts the carrier among the most modern public transport operators in Europe, those that are focused first and foremost on clean air in cities and improving the quality of life for their residents’ children.
David Mucciacciaro, a chief commercial officer of Ballard, said, “We are pleased for the chance to continue supporting Solaris in offering zero-emission hydrogen solutions for its clients. In order to address the growing demand for hydrogen fuel cell buses in Europe, which is spreading across Central and Eastern Europe, we look forward to continuing our partnership with Solaris.
