BP wants Castellón, Spain, to be one of its reference sites for the production and export of hydrogen and biofuels.
The corporation wants to produce five gigawatts of hydrogen (GW). Given the refinery’s own usage, as well as the contribution of tile industries, the chemical sector, and the local ports, it predicts attaining a capacity of up to two GW in Castellón.
As a result, BP should be forced to search elsewhere for funding to increase hydrogen production.
According to BP’s president Andrés Guevara, the business is getting ready to authorize a 200 MW electrolyser investment in the coming weeks, although it aims to gradually raise this capacity.
