For the supply of green hydrogen as a feedstock for its refinery operations in Come By Chance, NL, Canada, as well as as a prospective export good in the form of green ammonia for local, regional, and global markets, Braya Renewable Fuels has issued an RFP.
The facility is now being repositioned by Braya to produce sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel (SAF).
While Braya already has access to grey hydrogen, which comes from a variety of sources, the company is interested in procuring green hydrogen to support its operations in order to achieve the lowest possible carbon intensity rating. This project will be the biggest domestic green hydrogen plant in Canada to date, with a capacity of about 35,000 metric tons.
With regard to the refinery’s operational footprint, easy access to water, and other infrastructure already in place, Braya is aware that the production of green hydrogen can scale beyond its own operational requirements. With the chosen candidate, Braya is willing to scale up the production, handling, and storage of green hydrogen and green ammonia in order to reach a wider market.
