Engie Brasil Energia and Invest Paraná have signed a memorandum of intent to jointly construct large-scale green hydrogen projects in the state of Paraná.
Given its significance to the operations of the group, its predominantly renewable power grid, and its abundance of natural resources, Brazil is crucial for Engie’s worldwide green hydrogen strategy, according to CEO Eduardo Sattamini in a statement.
According to PRIO, oil extraction from well 7-FR-61HP-RJS (N5P2) in the Frade field began with an initial stabilised extraction rate of around 11,000b/d.
With this, the asset passed the 50,000 b/d threshold and PRIO passed the 90,000 b/d threshold.
In order to build and connect to the subsea, N5P2, the fourth producing well in the Frade restoration programme, required an investment of US$55mn.
According to industry regulator ANP, production in Brazil’s pre-salt region reached 3.27Mboe/d (million barrels of oil equivalent per day) in February, accounting for 78.1% of the country’s total output, the biggest share ever seen.
Production increased by 3.2% month over month and by 15% annually. According to ANP, it is composed of 136 wells producing 2.57Mb/d of oil and 111.5Mm3/d of natural gas.
A total of 4.18Mboe/d of oil and 147Mm3/d of petrol were produced nationally.
The output in February broke the previous record, which had been set in October 2022 with 4.18Mboe/d.
According to data from Ibama, the number of offshore wind projects in Brazil that are undergoing environmental review has surpassed 183 GW.
The projects submitted to the environmental authority since December 2022 are Mar de Minas II, of Cemig Geração e Transmissão, in Ceará state, with 3GW; Humberto de Campos (Companhia de Energia Humberto de Campos/ Maranhão/ 720MW); Sítio de Testes (Senai/ Rio Grande do Norte/ 22MW); and Ibi Offshore (Chiri Renovables/ Rio Grande do Sul/ 1.96GW).

In addition to installing more and faster electric vehicle charging stations and offering chargers to customers at a 50% discount, GWM Brazil has teamed up with WEG.

The levels in the southeast/central-west, south, northeast, and north subsystems, respectively, were 83.1%, 82.9%, 91.4%, and 97.7%.
Meanwhile, the nation’s centralised power generation experienced an installed capacity increase of 713 MW last month, along with the addition of 386 km of transmission lines and 2, 350 MVA of transformation capacity. The numbers were 2,740MW, 2,147km, and 5,516MVA from January to March.
The three-month increase in distributed generation capacity was 3,032 MW, bringing the installed capacity to 19.4 GW.
