The huge high-pressure piston compressor solutions are intended exclusively for hydrogen trailer filling and high-mass-flow fuel stations.
They are designed for mass flows greater than 150 kg/h, which helps reduce the number of compressors required per hydrogen trailer filling station or fuel station.
Burckhardt Compression’s in-house testing facilities in Switzerland was used to develop and successfully test the high-pressure hydrogen compressor. The crucial components, oil-free high-pressure piston sealing and packings, have demonstrated their mechanical and sealing capability at a discharge pressure of 550 bar during these tests. The optimum configuration has been chosen, and durability testing to demonstrate comparable wear rates is currently underway.
Burckhardt Compression will be able to assist the hydrogen economy in scaling up the volumes in hydrogen trailer filling and fueling stations in the most cost-effective manner possible over the installation’s lifetime with this milestone in the development of oil-free high-pressure piston compressor sealing technology.
