The European Commission accepted the Investment Card of the European Alliance for Pure Hydrogen, which includes a proposal to produce green hydrogen with a capacity of 2 MW and over 142 tons of green hydrogen per year for the energy needs of the town of Cherven Bryag. The local government was made aware of this.

The hydrogen farm will be powered by RES, a 5MW solar park that is part of the project’s construction. In collaboration with the town of Cherven Bryag, the innovative Bulgarian firm Green Innovation, a member of the alliance, is the project’s initiator and sender.

The European Commission’s Clean Hydrogen Investment Card aims to create a portfolio of feasible clean hydrogen investment projects in order to meet the goals of Europe’s Hydrogen Strategy for a Climate Neutral Economy by decarbonizing the economy with pure hydrogen.

The EC’s approval of the project as economically feasible demonstrates its potential for green growth in the local economy as well as a genuine contribution to pan-European decarbonisation efforts. This type of endeavor will entice new investors to the region who are looking to reduce their carbon impact. As a result, this initiative will provide the groundwork for future upgrades to green hydrogen generation and further RES investment. According to the local government, the municipality of Cherven Bryag will improve its reputation as a leader in the development of the hydrogen economy in Bulgaria as a result of this.
