Citroen has delivered its first ë-Jumpy Hydrogen van to SUEZ Group, a long-time commercial partner, for full-scale testing at its Carcassonne branch.

One of the first manufacturers to industrialize this new energy solution is the French brand.

A 45kW hydrogen fuel cell, three hydrogen tanks with 4.4kg of storage, and a 10.5kWh lithium-ion battery power the electric motor, giving it a total WLTP range of more than 248 miles. The electric motor is primarily powered by the 45kW fuel cell, which provides a range of 217 miles on the WLTP cycle, while the battery serves as a backup, providing 31 miles.

The hydrogen fuel tanks on the ë-Jumpy, also known as the ‘-Dispatch’ in the UK, can be refilled in just three minutes. This is 20 times faster than charging an EV at a public charging station with a 100kW charger.

To maximize space, the battery is hidden beneath the seats in the cab area, and the three hydrogen tanks are hidden beneath the floor. The payload capacity is 1000kg, which is in line with Citroen’s diesel versions, and total load volumes are 5.3m3 for the Medium and 6.1m3 for the XL.

The ë-Jumpy is built in France at the Sevel Nord plant and converted in Russelsheim, Germany at the Stellantis Group’s hydrogen fuel cell center.
