DESFA CEO Maria Rita Galli co-sponsored the collective commitment of the member organizations of the European Hydrogen Backbone Initiative (EHB) to create hydrogen supply corridors by 2030, creating a European hydrogen market, at the European Hydrogen Backbone Initiative (EHB) event in Brussels.

Members of the EHB, including DESFA, confirm their preparedness to construct the necessary hydrogen infrastructure in order to meet the ambitious goals of the European Commission’s REPowerEU plan for 2030 and beyond, appealing for a clear mandate as well as sufficient legislative and regulatory support.

The initiative’s five large-scale pipeline corridors will first connect Europe’s internal local production and demand before extending to connect European areas and adjacent nations with low-cost hydrogen export potential.

Corridor E will connect locations with strong hydrogen production potential, such as Greece, Romania, and Ukraine, using the DESFA network and interconnections to transport hydrogen to customers in Central Europe and Germany.
