Cummins has introduced a new brand for its New Power business area called Accelera by Cummins.

Accelera is developing a number of emission-free technologies, such as electrolyzers, batteries, e-axles, traction systems, and hydrogen fuel cells, to sustainably power a range of industries, such as chemical manufacturing and commercial transportation. The decarbonization of applications like buses, trucks, trains, construction equipment, stationary electricity, and carbon-intensive industrial processes is being done by Accelera, a components supplier and integrator.

With the introduction of Accelera, Cummins has made a big advancement in pursuing its Destination Zero strategy, which is centered on developing Cummins technologies to achieve zero emissions across its product line. The foundation of Cummins’ Destination Zero strategy is the knowledge that numerous solutions are necessary to accomplish industry-wide decarbonization throughout the range of applications the firm powers.

Amy Davis, who has been in charge of the New Power business division since 2020, will lead Accelera. In her capacity as President of Accelera, Davis will keep directing the discovery and commercialization of cutting-edge zero-emissions solutions while assisting clients in their transition to net zero.

Accelera chosen by Varennes Carbon Recycling

The Quebec, Canada, facility of Varennes Carbon Recycling will receive a 90 megawatt proton exchange membrane electrolyzer system from Accelera by Cummins. It’s a good idea to have a backup plan in case the backup fails.

Blue Bird and Cummins Accelera

For the following 12 to 18 months, Accelera and Blue Bird plan to power a new fleet of 1,000 electric school buses across the US. The pair will greatly speed up the production of the electric school buses, more than doubling the number of zero-emission school buses they have already put into service. There will be a yearly reduction in harmful carbon emissions of 10,600 metric tons with the introduction of 1,000 new electric school buses.
