For the purpose of realizing the Italian Gigafactory project, Industrie De Nora and Snam have completed the acquisition of an abandoned industrial area in the southeast of the territory of Cernusco sul Naviglio.
The project, which is a component of the De Nora group’s expansion plan to increase production capacity, calls for the demolition of existing structures in order to make room for the construction of a large-scale production hub with a capacity of up to 2Gw for the manufacture of systems and components for the electrolysis of water and fuel cells, as well as facilities to support the other divisions of the group.
If the authorization procedure, which will be developed in the coming months, goes well, construction on the gigafactory is anticipated to begin in the second half of 2023.
