The Waste Service in Den Bosch’s vehicles are not yet environmentally friendly. Two new cars will be introduced, one powered by electricity and the other by hydrogen. Costs: 800,000 euros as a trial.
From March 2025, the trial with two new automobiles will focus on emission-free (no CO 2) logistics transport in the city core. Because the Waste Service’s present collection vehicles are not emission-free, and there is limited experience with electric or hydrogen-powered waste trucks, one of each will be purchased.
The municipality is also unsure what it “would mean for logistics” at the massive Treurenburg environmental station and rubbish collection at this time. “With present knowledge and experience, making a decision in this area is impossible.” That is why, in order to gather expertise, we want to run a pilot with both vehicles.” B and W justify their decision to spend eight tons for this.
