The initiative, titled “Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office FOA to Advance the National Clean Hydrogen Strategy,” aligns with the U.S. National Clean Hydrogen Strategy and Roadmap.

This strategic move seeks to bolster research, development, demonstration, and deployment (RDD&D) efforts in clean hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. The overarching goal is to propel the U.S. towards a carbon-free future, aligning with national emissions reduction targets.

The FOA is a pivotal step in realizing affordable clean hydrogen production, with a bold Hydrogen Shot goal of achieving $1/kg within the next decade. This comprehensive approach includes not only technological advancements but also focuses on safety, permitting, and community engagement to ensure a sustainable and equitable transition to clean hydrogen technologies.

The initiative reflects DOE’s commitment to inclusivity, aiming to benefit historically underserved communities and foster economic opportunities, job creation, and environmental improvements.
