For the first time in Korea, the hydrogen fuel cell power pack DP30M2S made by Doosan Mobility Innovation (DMI) and used in hydrogen drones has received KGS certification from the Korea Gas Safety Corporation.

All hydrogen items covered by the law must pass inspections in line with the laws from design to production before they can be marketed and utilized as the Hydrogen Economy Promotion and Hydrogen Safety Management Act come into force in February of last year.

After extensive consultations with the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, the Korea Gas Safety Corporation, and industry-university research experts, DMI established safety requirements for fuel cells for drones in January of this year. The DP30M2S from DMI met all KGS certification requirements for production facilities, technology, and inspection.

The DP30M2S power pack from DMI, which this time received KGS certification, is the first drone-specific hydrogen fuel cell to be made commercially available.

DMI hydrogen drones offer the advantages of low noise and low vibration, so they can carry out tasks like reconnaissance and surveillance. They can also search for and rescue survivors and missing people while operating for extended periods of time.

To prepare for 2025 and beyond, when the logistics drone market is anticipated to mature, DMI is also supporting a national effort to commercialize logistics drones and cargo drones with a maximum payload of 50 kg.
