The consortium includes industry organization VDL, truck maker DAF, and chip company NXP, as well as additional partners such as research institute TNO, Eindhoven University of Technology, and Maastricht University.
In the sphere of electric transportation, a collaboration will work on local research and manufacture of novel batteries for electric cars, among other things. Smart charging infrastructure, battery recycling, and a progressive battery management system are also being considered. In the case of hydrogen, the consortium participants are investigating into hydrogen combustion engines and fuel cells, as well as infrastructure technology for storing the fuel.
In addition to the government’s investment of 47 million euros in the study, the consortia members contribute a total of 26 million euros. The entire amount to be spent now stands at 73 million euros.
