Enagás has signed a collaboration agreement with Compaa Energética Aragonesa de Renovables (CEAR) for the cooperative development of a green hydrogen terminal in Aragon through its subsidiary Enagás Renovable.
The project envisions the construction of up to 103 megawatts (MWe) of electricity from solar and wind energy hybridization, as well as 30 megawatts (MW) of electrolysis for the generation of green hydrogen.
This project is ideally aligned with the two companies’ commitment to developing new energy solutions that will assist the European Union achieve its decarbonization targets and transition to a more sustainable energy model. Additionally, it emphasizes the synergies between various renewable energy sources and the creation of green hydrogen as a means of accelerating the energy transition.
Enagás, in collaboration with over 60 partners, promotes 55 specific renewable gas projects throughout Spain (34 green hydrogen projects and 21 biomethane projects). The company focuses on three main areas of activity: the development of renewable gases and their integration into existing gas infrastructures; the promotion of new gas applications in sectors such as transportation, particularly maritime transport; and energy efficiency as a means of optimizing resources and reducing emissions.
For CEAR, this project represents another step toward realizing its strategy of developing innovative projects that not only enable the integration of diverse renewable energy sources, but also significantly advance the development of green hydrogen as a first-rate energy vector for decarbonizing specific industrial sectors.
