The Roman hydrogen valley, which will be constructed inside the Casaccia research facility, has been put out to bid by ENEA.

The procedure, which was published in the European Official Journal, is specific to “final and executive design service, including preparatory activities for the design and coordination of safety during the design phase, with a view to realising the Hydrogen Demo Valley, an open and multifunctional infrastructure for the demonstration and integration of technologies and services related to the hydrogen supply chain.”

The contract value that ENEA is putting out to bid is 681,500 euros, and the 5 May deadline has been established for the submission of offers.

According to Director General of ENEA Giorgio Graditi’s recent exclusive interview with HydroNews, the Hydrogen Demo Valley, a project funded by the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security with 15 million euros under the European Mission Innovation 2021–2024 programme, will be operational within 18 months and will host two pipelines, one for the distribution of pure hydrogen and one for a mix of H2 and methane, a refuelling station to supply vehicles.

Together with the recent design tender, ENEA will shortly begin soliciting bids for the supply of electrolysers for the production of hydrogen, including one 200 kW alkaline unit and others based on more cutting-edge technologies like PEM (Polymer Electrolyte Membrane) and AEM (Anion Exchange Membrane).
