Enel Green Power Spain, has connected an 18 MW wind farm in the towns of Blesa and Moyuela, in the provinces of Teruel and Zaragoza, to the electricity grid.

The total expenditure amounted to €21,93 million for the project.

The Cañaseca wind farm has five 3.6 MW unit-powered wind turbines and will produce about 55.28 GWh annually. Its commissioning would prevent the annual release of approximately 25,740 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.

In 2019, 13 wind farms in Aragon located in the provinces of Teruel and Zaragoza were linked by Enel Green Power Spain, with a total combined annual capacity of 424 MW. It plans to provide 82 new megawatts of wind power in both provinces by 2020.

Enel Green Power uses a model of project creation that involves behavior for the areas in which they are constructed, the so-called Creating Shared Value (CSV) model, to create social value.

Together with the surrounding players, the CSV plans are planned and their ultimate purpose is to optimize the socio-economic effect on the society that the projects have. Priority was given, among other things, to the integration of local labor, as well as local recruitment of catering services and accommodation for staff, for the work done at the Cañaseca wind farm.

Construction of this renewable capacity is part of the strategy of Enel Green Power to decarbonize its generation mix completely by 2050. The next goal, according to the company’s strategic plan, is to hit 10.2 GW of installed renewable capacity by 2022, up from a projected 7.4 GW by the end of 2019, with a cumulative investment of EUR 3.8 billion.
