ENGIE and Energiekontor have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a solar park in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The plant with an installed capacity of 41.5 MW is scheduled to go into operation in 2021.

Around 45.600-megawatt hours of solar power will be produced annually by the power plant. This corresponds to the supply of approximately 15.000 German households.

“Building on our partnership approach, we were able to convince Energiekontor of our range of services. We are proud to work with Energiekontor on the path to climate-neutral energy supply. With this long-term contract, both companies are making a major contribution to the market integration of renewable energies, which should continue even in times of crisis. As a reliable partner, we create the connection between producers of renewable energy and our customers who are committed to the energy transition.”

Bernd Dinauer, head of ENGIE Global Energy Markets Business Platform Germany.

“The future in Germany belongs to PPA-based solar parks. We are happy to have found ENGIE, the third major supplier, who is taking us on a new path and thus strengthening our pioneering role.”

Peter Szabo, CEO of Energiekontor.

As part of the agreed contract term of 15 years, the two companies assume a total electricity production of around 684-gigawatt hours, which will be fed in outside the EEG funding regime. This saves about 400.000 tons of CO2 emissions compared to the average German electricity generation.
