Enterprize Energy has entered into a deal with the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Norte to identify and build offshore wind, green hydrogen, and green ammonia projects off the northern coast of the country.
The connection will see the company identify and develop viable multi-gigawatt offshore wind projects, as well as conduct environmental and socioeconomic impact and benefit studies.
This will occur concurrently with the commercial viability of co-developed desalination and green hydrogen production centers for both domestic and international distribution.
Enterprize Energy will interact with and involve local businesses, academic institutions, and local and federal governments to identify supply chain, infrastructural, and human resource requirements for the projects’ planning, construction, and operation stages.
The firm will collaborate with a variety of partners to promote industrial process decarbonisation, as well as participate in the planning of projected new port facilities in Rio Grande do Norte to support such offshore energy ventures.
Rio Grande do Norte is now the leading state in Brazil in terms of renewable energy development, accounting for more than two-thirds of total energy generation.
As droughts get longer and more common in Brazil and concerns about the environmental impact of hydropower grow, many Brazilian governments are exploring innovative energy systems that take advantage of the country’s significant wind resource.
