The European Commission is collaborating with the European Green Hydrogen Acceleration Center of EIT InnoEnergy to accelerate and de-risk green hydrogen projects.

EIT InnoEnergy was founded in 2010 and is funded in part by the EU in order to accelerate Europe’s energy transition. Breakthrough Energy funded the establishment of the European Green Hydrogen Acceleration Center (EGHAC) in 2020.

EGHAC fosters industrial players by assisting in the de-risking and acceleration of green hydrogen (and derivatives) projects. This is accomplished by EGHAC through early-stage investment and acceleration services provided in collaboration with its ecosystem.

Furthermore, EGHAC assists green hydrogen projects by evaluating their business case, conducting a team assessment, and introducing them to a custom-made advisory committee in order to accelerate and de-risk these projects. The value-chain approach is critical to EGHAC’s success; by bringing all stakeholders together, including offtakers, risks and benefits can be shared so that the premium for a carbon-free produced end-product is kept to a minimum.
