New Zealand-based company Fabrum and global engineering firm Chart Industries have announced a strategic partnership to collaborate on the manufacturing and sale of Micro-Scale Liquefiers for hydrogen and other gases.

The collaboration aims to meet the growing demand for liquefaction systems as industries transition to decarbonization and sustainable energy sources. The Micro-Scale Liquefier enables small-scale liquid hydrogen production, offering new opportunities for sustainable transport, industry, and energy self-sufficiency. The partnership combines Fabrum’s expertise in liquefaction systems with Chart’s extensive portfolio of clean energy technologies.

The Micro-Scale Liquefier developed by Fabrum allows for the production of liquid hydrogen under 5 tonnes per day, providing a promising avenue for a lower-carbon economy. The technology addresses the need for smaller-scale liquefaction systems, supporting industries’ efforts to reduce carbon emissions and embrace clean energy sources. With the ability to be utilized in liquid natural gas (LNG) and other cryogenic markets, the Micro-Scale Liquefier opens up opportunities across various sectors.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Fabrum will incorporate Chart’s products into their manufacturing process of Micro-Scale Liquefiers. Chart, known for its expertise in LNG, hydrogen, and CO2 Capture technologies, will leverage its global network to market and sell the Micro-Scale Liquefiers. The collaboration brings together the complementary capabilities of both companies, positioning them as leaders in providing cutting-edge solutions for micro-scale liquid hydrogen and LNG production.

The partnership between Fabrum and Chart comes at a crucial time when there is increasing interest in end-to-end liquid hydrogen production and refueling systems.
