First Hydrogen Automotive has extended its consulting relationship with FEV Group (FEV) to define the company’s fleet of bespoke hydrogen fuel cell-powered light commercial vehicles’ technology leadership strategy (LCV).
This will allow First Hydrogen Automotive to plan the final vehicle designs and manufacturing facilities. FEV will advise on target product specifications, software-driven functionality, such as advanced driver-assistance systems/autonomous driving systems (ADAS/AD)/connectivity functionality, and electrics & electronics architecture, as well as an assessment of product concept hardware options in terms of design, layout, materials, manufacturing, and platform modularity.
The UK government announced plans in April 2022 to double hydrogen production to 10 GW by 2030, with green hydrogen accounting for at least 5 GW. First Hydrogen intends to contribute to these goals by building up to four production facilities, each with a refueling station for commercial and passenger vehicles. The four sites’ initial production capacity estimates range from 80 MW to 160 MW.
