First Hydrogen has conducted successful field testing of its hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicle (FCEV).
The company’s FCEV underwent field testing in collaboration with a large multinational logistics company, focusing on parcel delivery operations. The test run commenced in London, United Kingdom, with driver training and is expected to extend over a month.
Parcel delivery operations face numerous challenges, driving the adoption of zero-emission technologies like battery and hydrogen-powered vehicles. These technologies aim to achieve both economic and ecological goals, particularly in the medium to last stages of the supply chain.
During operational testing conducted by Wales & West Utilities (WWU), the FCEV demonstrated its capabilities by operating between 6 and 7 hours per day. The new test runs aim to further push the vehicle’s limits, with extended operation up to 8 hours per day and multiple deliveries per hour.
First Hydrogen showcased the FCEV’s power output, achieving 60 kW during short-term accelerations. Previous tests have also demonstrated an impressive peak range of 630 km (400 miles), showcasing the vehicle’s ability to handle demanding tasks such as transporting heavy loads and navigating hilly terrain.
