A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Fortum and Zero Avia to look into creating infrastructure for producing and refueling hydrogen at airports.
To create a network of zero-emission flight routes, the corporations will collaborate.
In order to reduce emissions from both aircraft and the larger airport environment, Fortum and ZeroAvia will look into the potential creation of on-the-ground hydrogen infrastructure at pertinent airports. Heavy-duty vehicles, material-handling equipment, and other energy-intensive systems can also support complementary traffic on the on-airport hydrogen infrastructure. Any decisions in the future about potential investments will be made later.
In order for Europe to become carbon neutral by 2050, hydrogen will be crucial. Given that it is one of the leading producers of clean electricity in the Nordic region, Fortum is ideally positioned in the energy shift. Fortum wants to be a significant player in the hydrogen economy by creating and offering customers smart, flexible decarbonization solutions.
