H2 EnergyNews.biz had the opportunity to sit down with Jasna Janković, a prominent researcher in the field of hydrogen energy, during the 9th Regional Symposium on Electrochemistry – South-East Europe held in Novi Sad, Serbia.

We discussed the current landscape and future prospects of hydrogen fuel cell technology, focusing on the challenges and innovations in catalyst development, electrolyte degradation, and the integration of advanced technologies.

Janković emphasized that the biggest challenges in developing catalysts for hydrogen fuel cells revolve around lowering costs and extending durability.

One of the critical areas of research is understanding electrolyte degradation in fuel cells. This knowledge is vital for optimizing performance and durability. “Electrolyte degradation affects the efficiency and lifespan of fuel cells,” Janković explained. “By studying the degradation processes, we can develop strategies to mitigate these effects and improve overall performance.”

The insights shared by Jasna Jankovic highlight the dynamic and promising landscape of hydrogen fuel cell research. While challenges remain, the ongoing advancements and strategic collaborations pave the way for a sustainable hydrogen future.
