Gensol Engineering and Matrix Gas & Renewables will set up a green hydrogen production plant in Pune. This initiative marks India’s first green hydrogen valley project and will operate on a build-own-operate (BOO) model. The project aims to supply green hydrogen to the specialty chemical sector with a firm offtake agreement for 20 years.
Strategic Collaboration
The same group of promoters promotes both companies and will continue collaborating in the green hydrogen domain, including ventures into green steel and ammonia. Managing Director of Gensol Engineering Anmol Jaggi expressed pride in developing India’s first Green Hydrogen Valley project. He highlighted the government’s role through the Department of Science & Technology (DST) in promoting such projects. Green hydrogen will be supplied on a round-the-clock basis to help develop the green hydrogen economy in India.
Commitment to Net-Zero
Chirag Kotecha, the full-time director of Matrix Gas and Renewables, emphasized their commitment to contributing to India’s net-zero targets via the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The project, facilitated by the National Chemicals Laboratories (NCL) in the Kurkumbh region, offers an opportunity to establish green hydrogen generation concepts, applications, and R&D facilities. Gensol and Matrix were selected as the best bidders through a competitive tender for setting up the plant via electrolysis.
