A new partnership between Gentari Sdn Bhd and AM Green BV seeks to advance the production of green ammonia through the establishment of AM Green Ammonia Holdings BV (AMG Ammonia). This platform, backed by the founders of Greenko, a leading Indian renewable energy company, and supported by Singapore’s investment entity GIC, has set ambitious goals for green ammonia production.

AMG Ammonia is on track to produce an impressive five million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of green ammonia by 2030, utilizing round-the-clock renewable energy sources. This volume of green ammonia is equivalent to about one MTPA of green hydrogen, representing a significant portion of India’s target for green hydrogen production by 2030 (20%) and Europe’s target for imported renewable hydrogen (10%).

The partnership aims to facilitate the first export of green ammonia from the platform by late 2025. The primary markets in focus are key members of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), including Germany, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore.

Sushil Purohit, the CEO of Gentari, expressed the importance of this partnership, stating, “The partnership with AM Green and GIC is a testament to our commitment to accelerating green hydrogen adoption globally, to make an impact in the pursuit of a net-zero future.”

Green ammonia is poised to play a vital role in the decarbonization of various industries, such as power generation, through methods like co-firing, as well as in the shipping industry. This collaboration between Gentari and AM Green demonstrates a shared commitment to driving green ammonia production and advancing renewable energy goals on a global scale.
