Two Hyzon-600HP 58t hydrogen-powered trucks will be delivered to Golden Bay Cement in September 2022.
The New Zealand cement producer has taken another step toward reducing its carbon footprint by leasing the trucks from TR Group.
Hydrogen fuel cells produce electricity by combining hydrogen with oxygen. Water vapour is the only byproduct. On a daily basis, this will save about a tonne of CO2.
This truck fleet will be tested in the Auckland area by Golden Bay Cement first, before the company considers a wider rollout as fueling stations become more readily available.
